Electricity & Water Subsidy
This Subsidy is applicable towards:
- Electricity Subsidy (Head of the Household)
- Water Subsidy (Coming Soon) (Head of the Household)
The Government of Oman has set parameters to avail the Electricity & Water Subsidy as defined below:
- The Electricity & Water Subsidy applies only to Omani Nationals who hold a valid Electricity account and are compliant with the set criteria
- Water Subsidy is applicable to Omani Nationals who hold a valid Electricity account AND a valid Water account
- Subsidy is applicable only for Residential and not for Commercial property
- Subsidy can be availed against only one Household as "Head of the Household"
- The Head of the Household can avail the Subsidy, provided he/she complies with the defined criteria of the total number of Household Members and the total Household Monthly Income
Note: Before registering for the Electricity & Water Subsidy, kindly update your Civil Number and other details with the respective distribution company (Electricity & Water)
Eligibility Criteria:
Omani Nationals can register for the Electricity & Water Subsidy on the National Subsidy System (NSS), provided he/she meets the eligibility criteria defined below:
- The eligibility criteria are based on the registration of their valid Electricity account and (or) Water account, and
- The total number of Household Members and the total Household Monthly Income

Note:
- No Household Member can belong to more than one Household
- No Household Head or Member can apply for a separate Subsidy as a Head of another household
How to Apply for the Electricity & Water Subsidy?
New Applicants:
- Application for the Electricity & Water Subsidy can be submitted via the National Subsidy System (NSS) Portal or the Mobile App for NSS after he/she is registered on the NSS and logged in
Existing Registered Fuel Subsidy Users:
- Existing registered Fuel Subsidy Seekers/Users have the option to register and apply for the Electricity & Water Subsidy directly from their Dashboard (This is subject to Seekers and Users meeting the Electricity & Water Subsidy criteria)
Please Note:
- The Electricity & Water Subsidy registration process will be available from 20 December 2020
- Initially, only the Electricity Subsidy will be launched
- Eligible Omani Nationals will receive the Electricity & Water Subsidy from the next billing cycle (Jan 2021)
- The Electricity & Water Subsidy operates in coordination with the Oman Fuel Pricing Committee, Authority For Public Services Regulation, Royal Oman Police (ROP), Electricity Distribution companies, and the Ministry of Social Development (MOSD)
